How does your wireless Internet service work?
Northwoods Connect uses the latest in wireless technology to send you a high-speed Internet signal over the air. The simple explanation is that we put highly technical equipment on very tall towers that can reach homes and hotspots for miles around. We then install a small device on the outside of your house to connect to our secure network. It is vastly different from satellite service as their signal needs to beam up into space whereas ours just goes a few miles.

How do I know if I'm in the service area?
To find out, click here and enter your address and we'll get back to you asap. You can also call us at 715-544-8025 and we will check for you. And if you're not currently in the service area, but would like to receive our service, please let us know! We're adding to the network all the time and your input is always welcome and appreciated!

Can I watch Netflix?
Yes! Although we recommended our faster plans for HD streaming, you should have no problem streaming Netflix, Hulu, or Youtube. If you want to learn more about our speeds, click here.

Will bad weather affect Northwoods Connect Internet?
If you currently have satellite Internet, then you know what how bad weather can affect your signal. The great news is that the weather does not degrade our signal because we're dealing with shorter distances and different frequencies. There are obviously exceptions to this rule (tornadoes, power outages, ice storms, etc), but we aim for 99.9% uptime and are building in redundancies to keep your Internet running smooth.

What's the catch?
We pride ourselves on keeping things as simple as possible (i.e. no catches). You subscribe on a monthly basis and get Internet service. We don't need to trap you in order to get your business. If you like what you're getting from us, continue to subscribe to the service. 

Are you a big company from out of town?
Nope. We're 100% local.

How do I pay?
You pay Northwoods Connect every month your service is active with the credit or debit card that you provide during registration. And if you need to change your card or billing info, just let us know. 

How does the service get installed?
We install a fixed outdoor antenna (about the size of a book) on your roof and then run a short wire into your home. It's much smaller than a satellite dish, but capable of a much better Internet experience. We will also sometimes install a yagi antenna at some locations. 

Do you offer vacation packages?
Yes! We offer a vacation package that keeps your account active for a low nominal charge for as long as you are gone. Just contact us  at 715-544-8025 to arrange a vacation package. There is no other service charge or hidden fees and you can apply any existing prepaid active service to the vacation service charge. During this time, your modem should be turned off. You will be unable to use the Internet until you call us and reactivate your service.
